FUBU
Ancestory in the making ist ein Nachmittag, an dem wir denjenigen danken, uns an sie erinnern und sie ehren, die vor uns kamen. Die Black Bodies, die Raum geschaffen haben, die Tanzflächen und Gemeindezentren eröffnet haben, die Gastgeber von Abendessen und Versammlungen waren. Es ist ein Versuch, eine Generationslücke zu schließen und eine Karte der Vorfahren in dieser Stadt zu zeichnen.
Dieser Nachmittag ist ein Versuch, die Arbeit von Black Bodies in der Zürcher Kultur- und Clubszene vor den 00er Jahren wiederzufinden und zu dokumentieren. In der Praxis der mündlichen Überlieferung werden wir, die Jugendlichen, zuhören und das Gehörte in unseren Körpern und auf Tonband speichern, um uns später daran zu erinnern und die Geschichten neu zu erzählen.
Diese Veranstaltung findet im Rahmen der Residenz „Club & Care“ der Gessnerallee statt. Die Residenz entstand in Zusammenarbeit mit Kampire Bahana und in zusätzlicher Kooperation mit den Kollektiven OKRA und FUBU, welche als lokale Vertreterinnen am Programm mitwirken. Als DJ und Gründungsmitglied des Nyege Nyege Kollektivs kuratiert Kampire eine einwöchige Residenz zum Thema Nachtleben in der Gessnerallee; eine Feier des inklusiven Nachtlebens mit Workshops, einem Sober Day Rave, einem Community Day organisiert von FUBU und OKRA und einer Clubnacht mit international renommierten DJs.
Ancestory in the making is an afternoon to thank, remember and honor the ones who came before us. The Black Bodies who held space, who opened dancefloors and community centers, hosted dinners and gatherings. It is an attempt to close a generational gap and draw an ancestral map in this city.
This afternoon is an effort to recover and document the work of Black Bodies in the Zurich cultural and club scene before the 00s. In the practice of oral tradition, we the youngsters will be listening and saving it in our bodies and on tape to later recall and retell the stories.
This event takes place in the context of the residency "Club & Care" at Gessnerallee. Zusammen mit GDS.FM präsentieren wir live on air und im Sender von GDS.FM eine Podiumsdiskussion über Gemeinschaftsethik: Unter der Moderation von Authentically Plastic, DJ und Künstler:in, wird es um Fragen zum Thema «Community» im Clubkontext gehen: wie unterscheidet sich «Community» in verschiedenen Kulturen? Wie wurde Community zu einer Ware und dadurch immer schwerer zu fassen? Mit Beiträgen von: Festival- und Black-Music-Kollektiv dweller aus New York; Musikplattform, Label und Community-Radio UUMPHFF aus Kopenhagen; dem Basler non-discriminatory party space BIPoC-Kollektiv OKRA sowie der mental health & sober rave Community Misery Party aus London.
Nach dem Talk gibt es eine Afterparty präsentiert von OKRA mit Somatic Rituals.

Together with GDS.FM, we present a panel discussion about community ethics live on air and on the GDS.FM channel: Moderated by Authentically Plastic, DJ and artist, the discussion will focus on questions about «community» in the club context: how does «community» differ in different cultures? How has community become a commodity and thus increasingly difficult to grasp? With contributions from: Festival and black music collective dweller from New York; music platform, label and community radio UUMPHFF from Copenhagen; Basel-based non-discriminatory party space BIPoC collective OKRA; and mental health & sober rave community Misery Party from London.

DIVAS unterstützt den künstlerischen Austausch und queere Freundschaften in der Gegenwartsperformance. Das Projekt ist ein vielschichtiges Alter Ego und ein kreatives Netzwerk für diejenigen, die Licht, Hitze, Feuchtgebiete teilen wollen. DIVAS wurde 2016 von Rafał Pierzyński and Aga Pędziwiatr initiiert und ist seither in Zürich basiert.
Auf Einladung von zürich moves! Forever Imbricated, erklärt DIVAS seine Residenz in der BINZ39 zu einem Raum der prozessualen Verwandlung.
Ein temporärer Space verbindet sich mit anderen Räumen, ermöglicht Begegnungen rund um eine Recherche der Berührungen. Während eines Monats werden sich Rafał Pierzyński/DIVAS und weitere geladene Kunstschaffende in diesem Space aufhalten, ihn verändern und ihre Erkenntnisse miteinander und mit einer interessierten Öffentlichkeit teilen.

DIVAS supports artistic exchange and queer friendships in the field of performing arts. It is a multifold alter ego and a creative network for those who want to share their light, their heat, their wetness. The project was initiated by Rafał Pierzyński and Aga Pędziwiatr in 2016 in Zurich.
Upon invitation from zürich moves! Forever Imbricated, DIVAS take up residence at Binz39.
A temporary space emerging with urgency within another space to, like a skin, enfolds and nourishes DIVAS encounters and their research on touching. Over the course of a month Rafał Pierzyński together with invited artists transform the space and share practices with each other, including the audience of the festival.

About
Rafał Pierzyński (1991, Poland) currently based in Zürich. Their performance practice is deeply rooted in the personal experience and artistic research of touching. Expanding the idea of touch, from a queer perspective they explore entanglements of technology and nature revolving in virtual, corporeal trans-reality of bodies dancing together. In their interdisciplinary projects, they are often creating immersive performances on the borders of installation and treatment.

Amosphère
Telepathische Stille konstituiert eine dreistündige, partizipatorische sound/visual Performance. Am Tag des viertelvollen Mondes werden Sound- und Handlungsnotationen mit der Stellung derjenigen Planeten in Einklang gebracht, die unsere Stimmung, Gefühle, Handeln und Wahrnehmung über die Sinne beeinflussen, im Hinblick auf die heilenden Energien dieses ganz bestimmten, ganz gewöhnlichen Tages. Das Publikum ist eingeladen, Instrumente zu bespielen und an der gemeinsamen Meditation teilzunehmen, in der Energien generiert und in einem Versuchsfeld telepathischer Kommunikation in Umlauf gebracht werden.
Kommen und gehen jederzeit möglich.
A telepathic silence is a three hours’ participatory sound visual performance. On the day of moon’s first quarter, sound scores and action scores are alligned with the positions of planets which effect our moods, emotions, actions and perceptions through senses with the healing energies of this specefic but ordinary day. The audience are encouraged to participate in the instrument playing and the collectif meditation that generate and circulate energies through a tentation of telephathic communications.

About
Amosph re is a Paris-based composer and multidisciplinary visual artist. Using a minimalist vocabulary and fictional concrete poetry across diverse practices –- music, painting, poetry, sound installation, performance –- her work questions the atmosphere of cosmological time and space, possibilities of poetic translations from universe and natural environment to human perceptions and psycho-physical effects through sonic and visual meditations. By exploring the balance between primary spirituality and modern culture, analog synthesizers and contemporary technologies, collected datas are translated and transformed into eventual forms of psychic communication and healing process.
Represented by 33-33 after being invited by Laurel Halo at MODE Festival, her projects have been presented by IRCAM, Somerset House Studio by Mutant Promise/EBM(T) collectif, Salon de Normandy by The Community, Fondation Fiminco, Shapeplatform, and she has toured numerous festivals across Europe with FUJI|||||||||||TA. Her debut full-length is released on 33-33 Label, a latest track is part of the compilation «Epiphanies» by the Swiss label Hallow Ground.

SERAFINE1369 wird im kommenden Jahr in Zusammenarbeit mit der Shedhalle ein Multiformat-Projekt entwickeln, das im direkten Austausch mit Protozone, einem prozessorientierten Ausstellungs-Szenario, steht, das sich eingängigen Arbeiten und nachhaltigen Praktiken in verschiedenen Intensitätsstufen – von high bis low intensity – verschrieben hat. Im Rahmen von Protozone6: Are you coming? wird SERAFINE1369 in der Shedhalle einen Live Stream hosten, zusammen mit Josh Anio Grigg, begleitet von einer Plakataktion in ganz Zürich und an den vielen Spielorten von zürich moves! Forever Imbricated.
SERAFINE1369 will be collaborating with Shehdalle over the next year to devise a multi-format project in direct dialogue with the Protozone, a process based exhibition scenario that presents accessible works and sustainable practices through different intensities, named high and low intensity phases. On the occasion of Protozone6: Are you coming?, SERAFINE1369 will host a live-stream at Shedhalle, in collaboration with Josh Anio Grigg as well as a poster campaign around Zurich and zürich moves! Forever Imbricated partnering venues.
About
SERAFINE1369 (London, UK) previously known as Last Yearz Interesting Negro (2016–2020), is the artist and dancer Jamila Johnson-Small. They work with dancing as a «philosophical undertaking», as «a political project with ethical psycho-spiritual ramifications for being-in-the-world», as they term it. Recent projects include Tate Britain, London (2021), Liverpool Biennial (2021), CA2M, Madrid (2020), MDT, Stockholm (2020), Silencio, Paris (2019), Transmediale, Berlin (2019), Barbican, London (2019), Café Oto, London (2019), ICA, London (2018), Palais de Tokyo, Paris (2018), amongst others.

HIGHER xtn. – entstanden im Auftrag des Stedelijk Museums – ist eine Adaption von Rizzos Performance HIGHER von 2015, die sich mit der Art befasst, in der Clubs Tanzenden einen Raum für Ausdruck und Gemeinschaft bieten. Mit Blick auf die theoretischen Überlegungen von Julia Kristeva, Boris Groys und Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi untersucht Rizzo das Potential von Tanz als Zugang zu einem Zustand von Fließen, Ganzheit, Transzendenz, und sieht darin eine Verbindung zwischen Tanz und religionsnahen Praktiken. Ihn interessiert insbesondere die kathartische und transformative Macht von Techno, dessen repetitive Beats die körperliche Grenzwahrnehmung auf Zeit aufzulösen vermögen. HIGHER xtn. schaut auch auf die Funktion von Clubs als Treffpunkt für marginalisierte Gruppen; als ein Ort, wo eine öffentliche Intimität geschaffen wird und Individuen ein Umfeld finden, in dem sie ihren Identitäten nachgehen können.
In HIGHER xtn. erforschen Tänzer und Tänzerinnen die Grenzen zwischen sich und dem Kollektiv. Die repetitive Choreographie schweißt die Gruppe zu einem einzigen Körper zusammen. Lorenzo Sennis hypnotischer Elektro-Soundtrack intensiviert sich im Tandem mit den Bewegungen auf der Tanzfläche.
HIGHER xtn. — originally developed for the Stedelijk Museum — is an adaptation of Rizzo’s 2015 performance HIGHER, which explores how nightclubs offer dancers a space for self-expression and communion. Drawing from the work of theorists Julia Kristeva, Boris Groys, and Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi, Rizzo considers how dance can facilitate states of flow, totality, and transcendence, and acknowledges the connection between dance and para-religious practices. He is particularly interested in the cathartic and transformative power of techno music, whose repetitive rhythms can temporarily blur the perceived boundaries of the body. HIGHER xtn. is also attentive to the important role that nightclubs play as gathering spaces for marginalized groups, and to how clubs foster public intimacy while providing individuals with an environment in which to explore their identities.
In HIGHER xtn., dancers negotiate the boundaries between the self and the collective. As the repetition of the choreography reconfigures the group into a single body, Lorenzo Senni’s hypnotic electronic soundtrack intensifies in tandem with the dancers’ movements.
About
Michele Rizzo (1984) is an Italian artist based in Amsterdam since 2007 where he studied choreography at the SNDO School for New Dance Development, and later visual arts at the Dirty Art Department Master program of the Sandberg Institute.
In the past years, Rizzo has produced a series of works for theatres and exhibition spaces, which engage with the aesthetic translation of aspects of club culture and raving.
In 2018 Rizzo presents HIGHER xtn. (2018), at the Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam, which has welcomed the work in its permanent collection. HIGHER xtn. has been shown extensively around Europe: Fondazione Sandretto Re Rebaudengo (Turin), Zachęta National Gallery of Art (Warsaw), V-A-C Foundation (Venice), 3HD Festival (Berlin), Spazio Maiocchi (Milan), Enter Art Fair (Copenhagen), La Casa Encendida (Madrid), among others.
In 2021 Rizzo produces his latest performance work Reaching (2021) at KW Institute for Contemporary Art in Berlin in collaboration with Julia Stoschek Collection. In the same year, Rizzo makes his debut in the medium of video, producing and directing the film Rest (2021). The film, reflecting on a number of themes inherent in the wake of the pandemic’s sudden global shutdown and depicting parts of homonym work made for the Rome Quadriennale, was commissioned and has been acquired by the Amsterdam Stedelijk Museum.
Since 2020 Rizzo engages in the fashion world, collaborating with brands such as MARNI, Off-White, and Magliano.
